Step-by-step support guide

IPTV Troubleshooting in South Africa

Use these simple checks to identify whether an issue is coming from the app, device, home network or internet connection before contacting support.

Home IPTV Guide Troubleshooting

Before you begin

Please complete every step in order

Each test checks a different possible cause. Completing the full process helps support determine whether the issue is linked to the original app, the device, the home Wi-Fi connection or the wider internet connection.

Please note what happened after every step, even if the result did not change. Without all the results, it may not be possible to identify the source of the problem accurately.

Important:

Clearing an app’s data or storage removes its saved login information. Keep your account details available so you can sign in again.

Main diagnostic test

Complete these five troubleshooting steps

Test the service after each step and write down the result before continuing.

STEP 01

Refresh the app and restart the device

Android, Fire TV and Android TV: close the app, clear its cache and then clear its data or storage. Turn the device off for about two minutes, restart it and sign in again.

iPhone or iPad: close and reopen the app, then restart the device. If the issue continues, delete and reinstall the app before signing in again.

STEP 02

Power-cycle the modem and router

Switch off or unplug the modem and router for two to three minutes. Reconnect the modem first and wait until it is fully online, then reconnect the router and allow the Wi-Fi network to start completely.

STEP 03

Test a different compatible app

Install a second compatible player on the same device. Sign in with the same account details and test the same live channel or VOD item.

STEP 04

Test on a phone using the same Wi-Fi

Install a compatible app on your mobile phone, sign in with the same details and test while the phone is connected to your home Wi-Fi.

STEP 05

Test using mobile data or another connection

Disconnect the phone from Wi-Fi and test again using mobile data or a different internet connection. Compare this result with the home Wi-Fi test.

Understanding the results

What each test can tell us

The second app works

The original player may have a cache, compatibility or configuration issue. Continue using the working app or reinstall the original one.

Both apps fail on one device

The issue may be related to that device, its software, available storage or network connection.

The phone works on Wi-Fi

The home internet is reaching the service, so the original device or app is more likely to be involved.

Mobile data works but Wi-Fi does not

The home connection, router, Wi-Fi signal, ISP routing or network settings are more likely to be involved.

Nothing works on either network

Check the account details carefully and send support the full results so the account and service status can be reviewed.

Only one channel or title fails

The problem may be limited to that specific channel or VOD item. Include its exact name when contacting support.

App problems

When the app will not open, crashes or freezes

  • Restart the device and confirm the app is updated.
  • Check that the device has available storage space.
  • Clear cache and app data on Android-based devices.
  • On iPhone or iPad, close and reopen the app, then reinstall it if necessary.
  • Test a different compatible player on the same device.
  • Confirm the device date and time are set correctly.

Login problems

When the app says the login is invalid

  • Enter the username, password and server information exactly as supplied.
  • Check for extra spaces before or after each value.
  • Do not substitute the support email address for the supplied username.
  • Clear the app data and enter the details again manually.
  • Test the same details in a second compatible app.
  • Email support if the same details fail in more than one app.

Loading problems

When channels, categories or VOD do not load

  • Allow the first app update to finish before closing the player.
  • Refresh or update the playlist within the app if that option is available.
  • Restart the app and device.
  • Test a different compatible app.
  • Compare home Wi-Fi with mobile data or another network.
  • Note whether everything is missing or only one category, channel or title.

Buffering and freezing

When playback repeatedly stops or buffers

Start with the five diagnostic steps above. Then review the full Internet Speed and Buffering guide for Wi-Fi, Ethernet, congestion, latency and connection-testing advice.

  • Test the device with Ethernet where possible.
  • Pause large downloads, cloud backups and game updates.
  • Move the router closer or improve the Wi-Fi signal.
  • Test the same content on a phone using Wi-Fi and mobile data.
  • Record whether the issue affects all content or only specific items.

Troubleshooting FAQ

Common support questions

Why must I complete every troubleshooting step?

Each step removes or tests a different possible cause. The combined results help support separate app, device, Wi-Fi, ISP and account-related problems.

Will clearing app data remove my login?

Yes. Clearing data or storage normally removes the saved login and app settings. Keep the supplied account details available before doing this.

Why test a second app?

If the same account works in another compatible player, the original app is more likely to be the cause. If both apps fail, the device, connection or account may need further checking.

Why test Wi-Fi and mobile data separately?

The two tests use different internet connections. If mobile data works while home Wi-Fi does not, the home network or ISP connection is more likely to be involved.

Why does only one channel or movie fail?

A problem limited to one item may not be a device or internet issue. Send support the exact channel, movie or series name so it can be checked directly.

What information should I send support?

Include your name, device model, app name, the exact problem, when it started and the result of all five troubleshooting steps.

Need further help?

Send support the complete test results

Once all five steps are complete, include the result of each one so the support team can identify the most likely cause quickly.
